When running in a place with snow, it is imperative to stop and take a picture of said snow. At least, that’s what I thought.

Forty minutes a day isn’t actually a lot of time- that is, unless you’re on a run. One of the first questions people ask me about running is usually something along the lines of “Don’t you get bored?”. The short answer: well, not really.

While I may run without music most of the time, my runs aren’t quite silent. In fact, my chain of thought can become rather, well, not running-related. In no real order, a list of things I’ve thought to myself on my runs:

  • Is it just me or is the first mile a lot longer than usual today?
  • Crap, my shoe is untied. *ties shoe* Well now one is tighter than the other. Fabulous.
  • I should not have had that cookie in fifth period.
  • If my hair hits my shoulder one more time, I will chop it off.
  • Ok, Spanish quiz next rotation. Let’s see how many verb conjugations I remember. *internal silence*
  • Thank you, car, for almost running a pedestrian over. It’s drivers like you who make America great.
  • The sky is really pretty now. Should I stop and take a photo?
  • Man, that man across the street from me just passed me. I need to pick up the pace.
  • My competition is probably running more than me right now.
  • Are those annotations really due tomorrow? That’s no good.
  • I just ran that mile way too fast. This is the last time I race random people on Bayshore.
  • I’m hungry.
  • Do my shins hurt? Nah, they’re fine.
  • Wait a second, did Mr. Brady just run by me?
  • I think my shins hurt.
  • Ok, that was definitely Mr. Brady. Was he running faster than me?
  • Wait a second is that a hole? Oh sh-
  • Yep. Definitely a hole. What’s a run without a little bit of mud, anyways?
  • I swear, I’m never going to be able to cross this crosswalk.
  • Last half-mile. Better pick it up.
  • My house is in sight. Food is in sight.
  • Done? Done. Yes. Time for food.
