Emmy Awards 2019: Top 10 Looks on the Red Carpet

Juno Le, Staff Writer

This year’s Emmy Awards brought multiple looks, some of which, were quite bold and extravagant, others more simplistic and classic. Nominees walked the red (or rather purple) carpet in looks that sometimes seemed quite repetitive, while others stood out. Some took the more classic, traditional route in their attire, while others had more of a creative, and much bolder ensemble. Here are my top 10 looks from the 2019 Emmy Awards:

Gwendoline Christie – Christie is an English actress, best known for her role as Brienne of Tarth in Game of Thrones, walked the carpet in a Roman-emperor-like gown by Gucci, styled by Jerry Stafford, makeup by Stoj, and hair by John D. Christie’s outfit appeared to be something that left the Great Supper painting.

Steven Canals – Co-screenwriter of the show “Pose” walked the carpet in a Viktorluna blazer, styled by Sonia Young, and was groomed by Jessica O. His glittery blazer draped to the ground to look more like elegant robes. It’s bold and stands out compared to the majority of classic black or blue suits worn by men on the carpet, but pulls together as pleasing to the eye.

Mandy Moore– Best actress nominee, Mandy Moore, pulled into the Emmy Awards with a combination of red and pink with her dress as she attended the awards with Taylor Goldsmith. The gown, by Brandon Maxwell, led the way in a chain of many other red and pink combinations worn by other nominees. Moore’s attire was ornamented with Forevermark Jewelry.

Zendaya– Zendaya walked the carpet in a custom Vera Wang dress; an asymmetric one-shoulder emerald green silk charmeuse gown with classic corset details, dramatic draping and a high slit. The dress and her complimenting red hair reminded me of the Little Mermaid’s tail, her flowing red hair similar to Ariel’s.

Billy Porter– Porter’s outfit never fail to leave an impression. For the Emmys, he took everyone’s breath away wearing custom Michael Kors collection, styled by Sam Ratelle and groomed by Anna Bernabe, a custom hat by Stephen Jones.
