Future Changes In the Student Parking Lot

The way in which students enter and exit the parking lot is going to go through changes. The street that the majority of cars exit onto from the parking lot, Rembrandt Drive, is being discontinued as a public road.

On Jan. 22 at 10:30 am there will be a court hearing about the decision to discontinue the road. All the people of Tampa are welcome to come and try to sway the decision of the officials.

While nothing is actually set in stone, it is very likely that Rembrandt Drive will be discontinued.  If the road is closed then administrators will be forced to create a new system to enter and exit the student parking lot.

While this is something that has been brought up a few times, the plans have never come together. Rembrandt’s closing will give administrators that final push to change how the student parking lot works.

“We’ve been talking about [doing] this all year, trying to redo it [the system] because it’s congested with the parents dropping off and the kids pulling in and parking,” said assistant principle Amanda Bailey.

The administrators do not yet know how they are going to change the parking lot system, but they will find a more efficient way than the one currently in place.

“I assume we’ll talk about it on the staff [meeting] on Friday,” said Bailey.
