Hillsborough County has recently come out with more updates regarding how students will carry on throughout the rest of the year.

As of now all Hillsborough County schools will be closed until May 1st. This date is subject to change when the country reassess our position after the April 30th deadline given by President Trump.

Regarding graduation for seniors, all of the scheduled graduation dates are scheduled to take place as planned. The Hillsborough County committee in charge of graduation is working with the Florida State Fairgrounds to plan for other summer dates if graduation needs to be postponed because of our current circumstances.

For all students, end of semester exams and state testing, like the FSA and EOC, have been canceled. Semester grades will be determined based off of an average of your two quarter grades.

However, with EOC’s being cancelled students are still required to pass the Algebra I and Geometry EOC sometime in the future in order to graduate. The 10th grade English Language Arts FSA must also be passed to graduate.

Seniors still needing to complete these EOC requirements have the opportunity for this score to be waived so that they can still graduate on time.

Grab and go meals are still available for students under the age of 18 or special needs students under the age of 21. However, since April 10th is a non-school day these grab and go meals will not be available. But, students are given the opportunity to double up on the meals they will collect on April 9th so they can have enough food for both Thursday and Friday.

To check for a school near you that is providing grab and go meals you can check the Hillsborough County website.

During this pandemic, Hillsborough County is continually making adjustments to follow the lead provided by the government and ensure the safety of students and faculty.
