Spice it Up: How to Make Chocolate Chip Cookies with a Twist

Everyone has eaten an ordinary chocolate chip cookie, but not many have eaten an Oreo stuffed chocolate chip cookie. The regular chocolate chip cookie is traditional and tasted around the world with simple variations, but none as unheard of as the one and only Oreo stuffed cookie.
I feel that sometimes changing such a popular treat is needed- especially if it involves more chocolate. The more chocolate, the better. So, making this cookie is a fun cookie that is actually quite simple to make- as long as you follow the steps, of course. Everyone can add on to the recipe, which is what I love about baking these sweets – every person has their own taste and style.
The best aspect of the recipe is how easily it can be enjoyed by anyone with a sweet tooth. It can be made for any occasion whether it be a for a meeting with a friend or just as a dessert for the family. It’s the merging of two of the most classic American cookies into one, which was a genius idea.
To actually begin making the cookie, you would have to buy the Oreo and either store-bought cookie dough or ingredients to make the dough from scratch.
To make cookie dough from scratch you’d need:
- 1 cup (2 sticks) softened butter
- 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 3 1/2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 package Double Stuff Oreo cookies
Once you’ve gathered all the ingredients and measured what you need, you can start by preheating the oven to 350° to make sure that you will have a hot and ready oven for once you’re done mixing both wet and dry ingredients.
First on the mixing list is mixing all the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar in a large bowl with a mixer until it’s well combined. Meanwhile mixing the ingredients, throw in the eggs and vanilla too.
Later, in a medium-sized bowl, mix the dry ingredients, which includes the flour, salt, and baking soda. As those ingredients are being mixed, carefully add the wet ingredients as well as the chocolate chips into the dough.
Voilà, freshly made chocolate chip cookie dough.
Using a cookie scoop or your hands, form small balls with the cookie dough.
After all the dough has been converted into dough balls, begin to place one ball on top of the Oreo cookie and one underneath it. Then, squeeze the dough together so that the dough completely surround and seals the Oreo cookie inside.
Finally, place all the stuffed cookies on some parchment paper or on baking sheets and bake the cookies for around 13 minutes or until they’re golden brown. Allow for the cookies to cool for about five more minutes prior to placing them on a cooling rack.
And now you have just finished creating these legendary treats for people to enjoy.
But for all of those who don’t want to take the time to make the cookie dough, then there’s also an alternative step you may take.
When you begin to cover the cookie with the dough, the store-bought cookie dough is rather thinner than fresh dough, so it tends to spread while cooking. To prevent the dough from spreading, you can bake them in muffins tins for a more secure cookie as well as increasing the cooking time from 13 minutes to 18.
With this alternative, you will still be able to produce finger-licking cookies, so don’t worry about not having enough time because there are definitely time efficient ways of generating this recipe.
Finally, don’t forget to share the recipe with others and eat some yourself because the recipe was sweet to make.
