Road Rage: Slow Down, and Not Just for the Cops
October 7, 2015
Dear terrible driver,
Imagine: you’re cruising down Veterans Expressway – windows down, wind blowing… all of a sudden you look in your rear-view mirror and see those notorious flashing red, blue and white lights. You instinctively slam on your breaks and pull onto the side of the road and the officer asks you the famous question: ”Do you have any idea how fast you were going?”
Speeding is the number one violation in fatal motor crashes. In the United States, someone is killed every 30 minutes due these accidents.
And trust me I’ve been there. I’ve had a bad morning and woken up late. I’ve had to rush to get to school. I know it sucks to be late for high school students and adults who have the constant emphasis on punctuality. However, the number one thing my parents always tell me is that it’s better to be late than to be dead.
A simple solution really is to just leave. I know this is not always easy, and that things happen, but in the end it is so worth it. You don’t need to put your life, or any other lives, at risk just because you’re a few minutes late.
With love (but also rage),
M. Felt
