Baseball: Knights Drop District Opener 1-0 To Jesuit

Just one night after a 7-2 loss to Sickles, the Knights took the field again, this time in their district opener at Jesuit.

Tommy Craparo (’15) got the start for Robinson tonight, turning in a brilliant outing against a very tough Tiger lineup. Craparo tossed six strong innings, allowing just one unearned run on two hits while striking out four.

The lone Jesuit run came in the bottom of the sixth, when the leadoff man reached on an error before being bunted over to second. He came around to score on a 1-out, pinch-hit triple to the left-center field wall.

Robinson couldn’t seem to get much going offensively against Jesuit’s Bobby Hearn, who also had a stellar outing on the mound. The Knights managed just three hits, coming off the bats of Darius Autry (’15), Patrick Kiszla (’15), and Shawn Herron (’15).

Robinson had a late chance to tie the game when T.J. Cole (’14) was hit by a pitch before the pinch-runner, Jacob Bachyrycz (’14), stole second and third, only to be stranded at third to end the ball game.

With the loss, the Knights fall to 2-3 on the season and 0-1 in district play, while Jesuit improves to 5-0 and 1-0 in district play. Robinson gets back at it Tuesday at home against Spoto.
