“The Mortuary Assistant” is a modern horror game taking place in a morgue, where you must work as a mortuary assistant and embalm dead bodies. Unfortunately, the morgue is haunted by a demon. One of the dead bodies you must embalm is possessed by a monster and your job is to figure out which of the corpses is the one that is possessed.

Popular YouTubers have been playing this game and streaming their experience while doing so. With all of the commotion and whatnot, I decided to see what this game is all about.

As expected, there were many jump scares. It was a little confusing at first when figuring out the process of playing the game, but I eventually got used to it. It was definitely uncomfortable playing the game; I mean, you’re working with dead bodies, not to mention the demon that’s trying to possess you the whole game. Having to inject and extract things from corpses was extremely underwhelming. “The Mortuary Assistant” is an 18+ horror game, so there was a lot of blood, gore, vulgar language and unnerving circumstances.

I would say this game was enjoyable, but there’s repetition to the game, that is having to undergo the process of embalming corpses and the jump scares and events that sometimes repeat. It kind of takes away the scary aspect of the game when you’ve already experienced an event in the game and then sometime later it happens again. However, this game was still fun to play and I would definitely recommend playing it without watching videos on what the game is like, as this would 100% ruin the scary part of the game for you.

2022 was lacking horror content until now, so I’m glad this game showed up and claimed its throne as the best horror game of 2022 (in my opinion). I do warn that you take precautions when playing because the game is supposedly based on real events, so be prepared to not go to sleep at night.
