Where did you go to school?
I went to Mannaheim American School in Germany and I graduated from the University of North Carolina, Charlotte. I majored in biology.
What is your favorite thing about science?
Discovery
What is your favorite thing about teaching?
The show. Teaching is a performance art.
What was your proudest moment as a teacher?
When I got an 80% pass rate on the AP Environmental Science exam after only teaching it for one year.
What was your saddest moment as a teacher?
When they canceled [the AP Enviromental Science] class the next year.
What’s your favorite food?
Chicken with pineapple.
What made you decide to be a teacher?
For years and years, whenever I drove past a school, there was this tug. I always wanted to be a high school teacher. I started as a middle school teacher, but I always knew I wanted to be a high school teacher.
What would you be if you weren’t a teacher?
A stand-up comedian.
What are your hobbies outside of school?
Photography, anything enviromental, and going to the beach.
What is the worst thing about being a teacher?
The long hours and low pay.
