Mrs. Erin Quinn is a part of the newest selection of faculty this year at Robinson as the International Baccalaureate (IB) Coordinator of Robinson High School.
Although Quinn just arrived on campus on Nov. 4 2024, she has been hard at work; adjusting to her new career, leading the IB Open House for prospective students and preparing for the upcoming IB Dinner this Thursday, Nov. 21.
“The role of the IB coordinator is both to support and promote the IB program at Robinson. So I help facilitate things between teachers, students, and parents. I also go out to other schools to tell them about our students,” Quinn said.
Quinn’s new position as the IB Coordinator isn’t her first time in the school system, however, as she taught English for freshmen in the spring of 2023 at Robinson. She is also the PTSA president.
“I love hearing the kids express their thoughts in writing. I think that writing is such a powerful way to communicate–so being able to read that and give them feedback on how they can communicate more clearly is definitely what was my highlight as a teacher,” Quinn said.
Having attended an international school in Penang, Malaysia for high school, followed by completing an undergraduate degree at the University of Northern Colorado and a master’s degree at the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs, Quinn has the education and experience to crush it in her new position. By carrying this international experience, Quinn will be able to apply greater knowledge and education to the IB curriculum.
During the school day, one could find Quinn in her office or around campus.
“I do like to go touch base with teachers around campus or in the lunchroom during IB lunches. If you set an appointment with me, I can promise to be somewhere, but I like to get up and walk around,” Quinn said.
Outside of school, Quinn participates in various unique activities, as well as holding a side gig as a ghostwriter for personal finance.
“Depending on what season of life I’m in, I crochet, cross stitch, quilt, and I do street parking in my home gym; it’s like CrossFit for people who don’t want to pay $200/month.” Quinn said.
In a final comment, Quinn provided a piece of advice not only for students, but for everyone everywhere.
“I feel like people need to remember to mind their manners. I feel like a certain level of civility has been diminishing in recent years, and it makes such a good impression, even if you remember to say please and thank you to anyone you’re interacting with. I just think that social graces are under sold,” Quinn said.
Mrs. Quinn appears very prepared to take on the various duties of her new job. Under her expertise, Robinson’s IB program will continue to grow and reach new heights.
