Orchestra’s fall concert was cancelled because of Hurricane Milton, and it will not be rescheduled.
“It doesn’t mean anything for us though because it gives us extra time to prepare for the winter concert coming up,” orchestra teacher Alli Howard said. “Instead of rescheduling the fall concert we are just going to do one big song all together at Strings and Sweets and then the kids will do individual or small group ensembles together and then the rest of the time is just fun.”
Some students wish they could have played in the fall concert after practicing for weeks on the music.
“I’m a little upset that the concert got canceled because I worked really hard on those pieces of music,” Sofia Pagan-Luciano said.
Cancelling the concert lets the orchestra classes move on with their curriculum.
“They can focus on their new pieces of music they have to play and to just get along with the school year,” Howard said.
Orchestra’s next concert is String and Sweets, a concert of solo and ensemble pieces paired with sweets and treats.
String and Sweets is Nov. 7, and their winter concert is Dec. 17.
