The music streaming service Spotify released user’s metrics showing their top songs, artists, and albums of 2024 in their popular “Spotify Wrapped” event. Students look forward to seeing their wrapped data all year. This is largely because many teens see their music taste as a defining part of their character, something easy they can post to show off their superior taste to all of their followers.
One of the main metrics students boast about is the “minutes listened” category.
While a majority of students said to have more than 20,000 minutes listened, the highest number recorded was a shocking 143,567 minutes. 143,567 minutes adds up to roughly 100 days straight of listening to music.
While the Grammys may decide the Artist of the Year, your music taste decides your personal artist of the year.
Students also mentioned Stray Kids, Don Toliver, KORN and Sabrina Carpenter as their top artists.
Weather students were shocked by their data or not, Spotify Wrapped is a fun way to view your year through music. While the data may seem silly or unnecessary, this simple practice by Spotify gives users a sense of community through the artists they listen to and their peers.
