Black & White Game Lets Players Shine
May 20, 2014
Football players filled the football field Saturday evening for the annual Black and White Game. Freshmen through seniors were all involved in an offense vs. defense scrimmage game.
The game was a chance for players to get practice in before Thursday’s Spring Jamboree Game against Jefferson. The offense beat the defense 27-18.
“[I think the team will do] great during the upcoming season. I’m excited to see all of the hard work pay off because we have been working since January,” said Head Coach Shawn Taylor. “This game will help the team by giving the players a chance to see intense action. The scrimmage is being recorded, so that way, the guys can review the films for their mistakes and achievements.”
Taylor cited Jahrivs Davenport (’15) and Malik Tyson (’16) as key players for the offense and Damon Willis (’15) for the defense.
“We have a young team, and a lot of sophomores,” said Davenport, who has already recieved 21 college offers. “We need to build our way up from the ground, and work hard during the summer.”
