Trailing 4-2 through four innings on Saturday night, the Giants rallied to an 11-4 victory to even the World Series at two games apiece.

Hunter Pence singled in a run in the fifth inning before Juan Perez’s sacrifice fly tied the game at four just three batters later. The Giants then scored three in the sixth and four in the seventh to take a commanding lead. Joe Panik and Hunter Pence both doubled in runs in the seventh to put the game out of reach.

Yusmeiro Petit earned the win on the mound for San Francisco, throwing three shutout innings in relief of starter Ryan Vogelsong. Petit has now tossed 12 shutout innings in the 2014 postseason.

Brandon Finnegan took the loss for the Royals, allowing five runs on five hits in just one inning of work.

With the series tied at two, both teams shift focus to a pivotal Game 5 on Sunday night. Kansas City will start ex-Rays pitcher James Shields on the mound against San Francisco’s Madison Bumgarner, who has a 1.29 earned run average in the playoffs. First pitch is set for 8:07 on FOX.
