On Wednesday Oct. 8, Robinson golf took on Gaither in their twelfth match of the year. So far, its been a rough season for the girls who are yet to come out on top of a meet. Despite this, however, many members of the team still have positive attitudes.
“This is a learning season because we have a few new people on the team, but fun nonetheless,” Girls Captain Lael Beal (’27) said. “We are learning with every match and we hope to be ready for districts.”
Golf is one of the most technical sports out there, and therefore has a relatively high learning curve. With many of the girls joining the team with little or no experience, it’s often a struggle for the team to succeed as new players figure out the game and learn how to play.
Although the girls have not achieved the winning record they may have wanted going into the season, it doesn’t mean that their efforts were for nought. With every match played and lesson learned, the team has without a doubt gotten better.
“Our match against Gaither was a great step for us as a team,” Alina Diaz (’27) said. “We’ve been growing and getting better as the season progresses, and we’re going to continue to grow throughout our last few matches.”
Even with players unfamiliar to golf, the talent of the Robinson team is undeniable. This season was a stepping stone in the girls journey to success, and even though many of the matches were struggles, the team refuses to let the experience go to waste, and instead focuses on learning how to get better and move ahead.
