Adriano Casamento is a senior at Robinson High School, and it’s his first year on staff.
Casamento’s favorite activity is rowing for the Sarasota crew, and he leaves early every day to drive for 80 minutes to practice.
“I love the camaraderie of the team; the people make the drive so worth it. Rowing is pretty much my second life outside of school, and I’m already visiting colleges to see if I would want to do rowing there,” Casamento said.
Along with rowing, some of Casamento’s favorite activities are thrifting at Sunshine Thrift Store, going to the beach with friends, and going to concerts. He also enjoyed playing with his four pet turtles, before they passed away.
“I really miss my turtles, it sucks that they have such short life spans. I just like being on the water, whether it’s paddle boarding, rowing or boating, that’s when I’m the happiest,” he said.
Casamento enjoys international waters as well, spending the entire summer abroad almost every year.
“I spent the summer traveling abroad, and it was really fun. I spend most of my time in Italy, which I do pretty much every summer, and I get to spend time with all my family there,” Casamento said.
Casamento joined newspaper particularly for its multimedia components and is excited to make podcasts and cover popular Robinson events, such as pep rallies.
“I didn’t know that newspaper even had multimedia, but that’s how they convinced me this year. I thought, since I’m a senior, this is a fun thing to do for my last year,” he said.
Casamento currently participates in the Friday Knights podcast along with his cohost, Ryan Rolle. This year, he hopes to release continuous episodes of the podcast and make multimedia videos with Jack Perkins, a fellow staff writer.
“I’m excited to produce media for everyone to enjoy this year, and it’s nice that newspaper allows you to do something more creative during the school day,” Casamento said.
