Brianna Nieves is a sophomore at Robinson. This is her first year with Knight Writers.

She expressed how she had been wanting to join staff since freshman year, always having a passion for reading and writing.

"I've just always had an interest in writing, I think it's a great way to spark creativity in people."

Nieves also enjoys drawing; she is excited to help illustrate covers on some of her stories. But overall, she said what is most exciting to her is being out and competing.

"I would say I'm most excited for the field trips and competitions," she said. "I love the adrenaline of competing and I enjoy winning, knowing that there's something to be competing makes things a lot more fun."

In Nieves' personal life, she loves playing volleyball and making art. She says that three things she can't live without would be Aquaphor, Canvas, and snacks. She focuses hard on school and admits that she hopes journalism will help her get into college.

"I'm trying to get a scholarship; I definitely don't want to pay for college with my own money. I really want to go to USF, that's what I've been working towards."

Nieves stated that her best writing subject is argumentative/opinion, but she's most excited to write about A&E. She hopes to continue to work in journalism for a lifetime.

"I want to do broadcasting; I feel like that's something I really want to pursue."
