I know I cannot be the only one running out of things to watch while in quarantine; I can spend 10 minutes searching for something good to watch. Luckily, I came across Dangerous Lies which is unusually enthralling. I am not a huge fan of movies but when I first watched the trailer for Dangerous Lies, I was very intrigued because I already felt so much suspense.
This thriller of a movie centers around Katie (Camila Mendes) and her husband Adam (Jessie T. Usher). As shown in the trailer, Leonard (Elliott Gould)—who died unexpectedly—gave everything to his caretaker, Katie, who used to be broke but is now absurdly wealthy. Mysterious secrets lie around Katie with her recently discovered wealth as the film slowly unravels them.
The production did a really good job of leaving me hooked because of how mysterious it was. At the beginning of the movie it started the story off, introducing the characters, the story line and starting to create some suspense. The intense music playing in the background created an uptight feeling like something was about to happen. Then the mystery began when Leonard died, who Katie had been taking care of for only four and a half months. Then it goes onto more secrets being found out and then revealed which made the movie really interesting. From the beginning to the end you will look at all the characters differently, some, that you may have liked before, you probably will not like by the end of the movie.
Mendes plays Veronica Lodge in the TV series Riverdale. Although I thought her acting in that show was absolutely amazing, my high expectations of her acting in Riverdale were unfortunately lowered when I saw her acting in this movie. Nothing against her, I was just expecting better.
Dangerous Lies is the movie to solve quarantine boredom, keeping you on the edge of your seat the whole time. This movie will definitely be one you watch all the way through with no stops because once you start watching, it will be hard to turn the TV off.
