(more clever deckhead pls.. state how you felt about or something about them)
Kickflip is a seven member group from K-Pop company, JYP Entertainment, consisting of members Kyehoon, Amaru, Dongwha, Juwang, Minje, Keiju, and Donghyeon. As it is the first time they have released anything, there is not much to say about them except for that many have high hopes for them. Many successful groups have emerged from their company, and I feel that Kickflip is no exception.
In my opinion, the best songs on the album are āMama Saidā and āUmm Greatā. These tracks also happen to be the most popular, and probably contributed strongly to their fanbase. The first song, āMama Saidā is feel-good and the lyrics are centered around youth. From what I understand, its about wanting to do what you want, and rebelling against your parentās wishes. āUmm Greatā was the first track that was released and (I think) it shows what they are going for sound-wise. Itās really catchy and even though it sounds very simple, itās my favorite (formalize this sentence:” The song is sonically very catchy”)
The tracks, āKnock Knockā and āLike A Monsterā, are ones that I both loved and kind of wished the had a little more to it. āLike A Monsterā is overall a great song I just thought that it needed a bigger chorus. The build-up to it was so good that I was hoping for an even better, catchy hook. Despite all of this, it is genuinely good and itāll definitely grow on me. āKnock Knockā also has the exact same problem to me. It seems like just a song supposed to stay a little casual, but they also have amazing vocals in it that leaves room for more. Once again, I think that I will grow to love the song, it might just take awhile.
Lastly, āWARRIORSā and āSee You Tomorrowā are songs that donāt fully stick out to me much, but relistening makes me appreciate them. āWARRIORSā is very nice all-around, I just didnāt vibe with it at first. It is mainly a chanting song that sounds nostalgic, and it probably wouldāve fit better near the end of the album (This sounds weird, reword. Add more in-between these two thoughts) In the end, I decided that it was really good (don’t use this word if possible), and I will probably be listening to it more. The song āSee You Tomorrowā is really interesting (too short, combine sentences or add more) They switch up the beat a few times, which is mainly what put me off at first. What really tied it together (this is a complete tone shift from what you just said- It would make more sense to say “But what turned it around for me was”)Ā was near the end, the vocals and the high note were really impressive.
From my first impression of this group, I do believe they have the potential to become very popular within K-Pop. They do already have quite the following, and are sure to gain more as they keep releasing more music. I will definitely be waiting to see how they grow and where the will go in the future.
