As the year rolls on and we inch closer to summer, it’s important to celebrate and enjoy the season we’re currently in. That being said, between intense sports practices and study sessions for upcoming exams, you can listen to a Spring playlist to make the most of this time.
- Spring Into Summer – Lizzy McAlpine
This might be a little obvious, but it’s not just the title that encapsulates this unique season. The verses begin a little quiet and mellow, then at the chorus, a beautiful guitar and piano pick up, and the song transforms into a beautiful summer melody. It has a strong rhythm, yearning lyrics and a faint nostalgia. I’m predicting the rise of Lizzy McAlpine in 2025.
- Slow Dance – Clairo
Clairo’s whole aesthetic is very springtime. Her songs are always very hopeful, with a soft voice and fun-sounding instruments embedded. Specifically, within her latest album Charm, specifically this song, she has the perfect mix of bright, cheery and solemn tones throughout.
- Say It Now – Faye Webster
Even though it’s not the newest, “Say It Now” is a great addition to your playlist. Webster’s older songs incorporate more of a country-sounding twang with her classic melancholy sound, yet the juxtaposing sounds create a wonderful vibe for this season.
- Pictures of Us – Beabadoobee
This song has been one of my favorites lately. There is a beautiful guitar intro to start the song that fills you with nostalgia and hope. I could even listen to an instrumental of this song, even though the lyrics are repetitive overall, the sound is just perfect. The sweet, soft sound that she produces is a perfect medium for spring.
- On Earth – The Sundays
On social media, there has been a revival of the Sundays music, and I love it. The siren-sounding vocals and leading guitar melodies can transport you back to the whimsy of the 2000s and fill you with joy. I always feel better when I listen to this song.
- Let The Light In – Lana Del Rey, Father John Misty
I think this song is an absolute spring classic. Even though it’s extremely popular, it ends up on my playlist every single year. The harmonies that Lana Del Rey and Father John Misty produce are so heavenly, and I will never get tired of this song. An absolute must-have all year round, but it specifically nails the vibe of this time of year.
- Kitchen – SZA
Even though I usually think of SZA as winter music, her latest album has taken me by surprise. SZA’s soft vocals and very chill instrumentals make for very sweet melodies and make you long for summer to come so you can fully enjoy the relaxation her music brings.
- Jonny – Faye Webster
Another Faye Webster song for the list, and it’s very worthy of its spot. Her music is so cute, which is definitely a unique adjective to describe music, but with her soft voice and jazz inclusions, it’s hard to find another word. Regardless, I highly recommend it.
- Frances – ROLE MODEL
ROLE MODEL has definitely been gaining attention, and I’m so glad. This song is a heartfelt tribute to Emma Chamberlain, and he captures her vibe with such ferocity that it makes you yearn along with him, which I think is honestly the mood of spring. Gentle yearning is prevalent throughout the song, and I love it, especially for this season of gentleness and rebirth.
- Nancy From Now On – Father John Misty
Father John Misty’s song has a very unique sound, it sounds both modern and old-fashioned. I love his simple vocals and the beautiful instruments that pick up throughout the chorus. It has an almost funky feeling, but in the best way. I think this song is perfect for spring and summer, as it’s just pure bliss.
Overall, for me, the best songs for spring and summer are the ones that have gentle vocals and beautiful instrumentals, which I think are very obvious throughout this list. Spring is an important reminder that we need seasons like winter to really appreciate the beauty of summer. With its ever-changing weather and regrowth, spring demands a very curated vibe, and this music is meant to reflect that.
