Dressing for the appropriate weather is something I still deal with often. When it’s winter all I want to wear is mini skirts and tank tops, and when it’s summer all I seem to be gravitating towards is sweaters and baggy jeans. However, Florida’s heat gives no mercy for a wrong weather fashion choice. With the days getting longer and hotter, you need to choose appropriate clothing pieces to survive the heat while also looking stylish. Here are my recommendations of what you should stock up in for the summer:
Halter Tops
I don’t know about you, but the first thing that starts to sweat on my body when it’s hot is my back. That’s why a halter top is my best friend. In a range of colors and styles, halter tops can be found almost at any store for an affordable price. I love this style of top because it is so versatile whether you wear it up or down.
Flip Flops
This one’s controversial. Some people may complain how they don’t want to see other people’s feet in public. However, I think with our now rising hot weather, flip flops are a welcoming option. While they have a stigma for being tacky, I think they can be dressed up to be somewhat cute.
Silk Skirts
Skirts are an essential for every summer. But I believe silk skirts are an even better option to achieve optimal coolness, style and temperature wise. They can be found at many affordable stores and my favorite ones I’ve found were bought at my local thrift store! The piece can be dressed up and down depending on if you are frolicking around town or going to a fancy dinner.
A new season should always mean new clothes to style. However, with this weather we need to be smart about the functionality of our clothing choices. We can still look cute and stylish, while not burning and sweating every day of this summer.
