Grace Shafer is a freshman at Robinson and a staff writer for Knight Writers. This is her first year on staff.
Shafer joined journalism this school year but has had experience working the yearbook side of things for the past two years at her middle school.
Shafer has not joined any clubs yet but hopes to start a film club and join the photography club at Robinson. Some of her hobbies consist of thrifting, writing, reading, watching movies and especially listening to music.
"I am just constantly listening to music... I'm always adding new artists to my list but as of this week, I've been mainly listening to Lana Del Ray, PJ Harvey and A Tribe Called Quest," Shafer said.
Her favorite TV show is "Breaking Bad." She loves the contrast in characters and their vibrant care for each other. Additionally, she loves the comedic relief displayed throughout the show.
Shafer, not being a very STEM-oriented person, loves English class above all others.
"It's always been writing for me. As soon as I realized you could actually make your own stories and complex plots and characters, I fell in love," Shafer said.
Shafer is an extremely organized person and loves embracing her independent self. Shafer has two cats named Boofers and Seamus and a dog named Dobby. After high school, Shafer's dream career is to be an author. As a backup plan, she would love to work with her love for music and movies and would want to be a movie or music critic.
Starting her first year on staff, she hopes to make an upgrade from her iPhone camera to a Canon to strengthen her photography skills. She also aims that her work this year will help inform herself and others about what is going on around the school and feels it is crucial to articulate that news for the student body.
