On September 7th, the 2025 MTV VMAS was broadcasted, highlighting the year’s biggest artists and their hits. Showing old, new and current faces all in under one big screen with iconic moments you won’t want to forget. And while I won’t be able to get into every detail of the attended musical artist, I can still highlight the 5 unforgettable and most talked moments of the 2025 MTV VMS.

1) Doja’s Lip Stick fiasco

Now it’s no surprise that whenever Doja Cat steps into the scene, she always makes a statement, and the VMAS was no different. Rocking In Balmain, she steps onto the red carpet with a retro-look. from the bright colors, high heels, and the hair, she rocked a look fitting for a popstar. But that wasn’t even main event. She gave us an iconic moment by taking a bite of her own lipstick, leaving social media shocked with this bold moment.

2) Lady Gaga busy night

Lady Gaga was the center of the VMAs. Getting 4 awards in one night for artist of the year, best collaboration, best direction and best art direction made her the most nominated artist in the VMAs. However, what signified it all was the moment where Gaga left early for her own concert at Madison Square Garden after accepting the award for artist of the year. However, Gaga didn’t leave without a bang, showcasing a live performance from her concert onto the big screen.

3) Katseye’s 1st year run

Now unless you’ve been under a rock, you would know the name Katseye from a mile away. In a matter of one year, they have made a global break through on the charts, crossed the stage on lollapalooza, made a popular showcase on a GAP ad, and much more. But at the VMAs, Katseye made a statement proving that this was only the beginning of their long run. Not only did they perform at the pre-show, showcasing their abilities as a girl group, but also got their first award for push performance of the year.

4) Mariahs first VMA

Now it’s no surprise that Mariah Carey is no rookie when it comes to getting awards. Being a household name in the industry she has had her hands on many awards including 5 Grammys, 19 billboard music awards wins, a song writers hall of fame and even more. But in her 35 years in the industry, she surprisingly has never gotten a single VMA award for any of her achievements. Things were different however in the 2025 VMAs, since in a twist of events she got awarded her the Video Vanguard Award, making it her first ever award in her long career run.

5) Ozzy Osbourne Tribute

The 2025 VMA wasn’t just a moment to award and honor current artist, but it also honored and gave tribute to stars who has passed. As a farewell for Ozzy Osbourne, Artists Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Yungblud and Nuno Bettencourt gave one last epic tribute fitting for an all-star. This performance was companied by Ozzy most notable hits including “Crazy Train,” “Changes,” and “Mama, I’m Coming Home,” giving all of us nostalgia.

The 2025 VMAs was a night of unforgettable moments, highlighting many iconic moments from all your favorite artist under one big screen that will be in our heads rent free.

Jordan Lee is a senior and a staff writer entering his second year in journalism. This year, Lee is looking towards specializing in multimedia, somethings he’s wanted to do since he started Journalism One last year. “I want to go into more of the media aspects, like interviews and stuff,” Lee said. “My biggest goal is for me to put out funny content and have more people watch the media we put out.” With much of the staff who made up the multimedia section last year having graduated, Lee is going to have his hands full keeping up with the creation of videos and conducting interviews. However, with a good attitude and a passion for multimedia, he is ready to take on the workload and become a core member of his section. Aside from journalism, Lee takes part in plenty of other extracurricular activities. Lee is a four-year member and vice president of the culinary club and plans to join the track team this year, where he will compete in shotput. “I really like making pastries or desserts,” Lee said. “I would say tiramisu is my favorite thing to make.” Outside of school, when he’s not working at Jersey Mikes, he enjoys playing video games and reading. “On my PlayStation, I play the usual, like- Fortnite, Overwatch, Valorant,” Lee said. ” I read a lot, but right now my favorite book is Better than the Movies.” With an affinity for videos and interviews, Lee is a crucial addition to the knight writers this year, helping fill a multimedia section that was almost empty at the beginning of the year. With a multitude of ideas and a positive attitude, he’s determined to make multimedia more entertaining than its ever been. (Profile by Garrett Senzon)
