Pre-IB English I and II teacher Sharon Lee grew up in New York, about 100 miles north of New York City. After moving to Florida at a young age, Lee attended Lyman High School just north of Orlando and later the University of Florida. There she first majored in music, and later in English education.

“Literature and reading are my passions; just about anything in regards to humanity,” said Lee. “I couldn’t see myself as a band director. I would have loved it, but I love teaching English even more.”

Lee said her favorite book is Pride and Prejudice. “It has got just about everything I like,” said Lee. “It’s a classic, it’s witty, it’s satire, it’s romance- all wrapped up into one.”

Some of her hobbies include reading, bike riding, walking, and working out at the gym. She also enjoys playing the flute. If Lee were to pursue another career, she envisions herself working as a forest ranger.

“I’ve always wanted to be a forest ranger somewhere in Colorado. It’s still a dream of mine,” she said. “I wanted to be one of those [people] that drive a jeep up to a tower and watch for forest fires.”
