Charles Ward was born in Texas and grew up in West Virginia, Georgia, and Florida. Ward graduated from Pineview High School in Sarasota, Fla. After high school, he attended Florida State University, where he majored in Business and French.

“I kind of always knew I was going to be a teacher,” said Ward. “By the time I was in high school I knew that’s what I was going to do. I like French and Spanish a lot.”

Some of Ward’s hobbies include travelling and working around the house. He also takes on a job doing taxes, as well as teaching Pre-IB Spanish II and Pre-IB French II. “I can cook,” said Ward. “I have made gingerbread houses from scratch before.”

Ward is also interested in genealogy. He has traced his family history and how his family was dispersed throughout the Americas. If he had not become a teacher, he would have most likely pursued a career in the travel industry, such as a travel agent or a tour guide.

When asked why Ward enjoys teaching foreign languages, he responded, “With a foreign language, you can do all kinds of stuff; you are not just restricted to one subject area,” said Ward. “There are all kinds of things that you guys can do and that we can do in class.”
