A conversation with freshman Claire Chesney.

Q: Do you have any interesting hobbies outside of school?

A: “I do stop-motion animation. It’s where you make inanimate objects move in film, so you take an object, like a pencil, and you move it a little bit and take a picture, move it a little more and take another picture, and you do that a whole bunch of times. Then it looks like the image is moving.”

Q: What started your interest in stop-motion animation?

A: “I went to a film camp at the Tampa Theater [and learned how to do it there].”

Q: Do you know anyone else who also does stop-motion animation? Was anyone your inspiration?

A: “I did the film camp with my brother, Nick Chesney, who is my twin.”

Q: How long have you been doing stop-motion animation?

A: “[I have been doing it] about four years.”

Q: What makes stop-motion animation so interesting to you?

A: “I like doing film and filming things, and it is actually easier because you do not have to depend on actors for the film. It’s something you can control completely.”
