Tapley Borucke (’18) and Elizabeth Kempton (’18) are an interesting pair. Over the last four years, they have shared countless, unforgettable memories.

The two have known each other since they were babies because their moms were sorority sisters in college. They stayed friends after, raising their daughters together.

However, as the years passed, Kempton and Borucke drifted apart.

One day at church, they rediscovered their forgotten friendship.

“It was kind of awkward at first because I remembered her, but not very much,” said Borucke. “She was taking care of all these little kids at the preschool. We fed them all this junk food and they all got really hyper. I was sick for a week after it because I ate a whole can of frosting.”

Their relationship continued to grow, despite the fact that they did not attend the same grade schools. They participated in extracurricular activities together, allowing their friendship to strive.

“In 7^th grade we were both on the top [volleyball] team. We didn’t belong there, so we stuck together because we both sucked and everyone else was really good,” said Borucke.

In the summer of 2014 Borucke and Kempton went to Comic Con together. This moment turned out to be Kempton’s favorite memory with Borucke.

“We met Evan Peters [together]. We were following him and he was turning around so I was like ‘Tapley, he is judging us. We have to go’,” said Kempton.

“We were shaking, fighting over who was going to touch him. I told her ‘We don’t have to go, now he’ll remember us’,” said Borucke.

Kempton and Borucke have never had a fall out because of their similarities. While they may be opposites in some areas, they work together as best friends.

“She’s the one person that I don’t have anything wrong with,” said Borucke.
