Jordan De La Cruz is a senior and is the Sports editor. This is his second year on staff. De La Cruz is musically inclined and pursues such interest as he is in Robinson’s Drumline and plays instruments in his free time at home. He’s played the guitar since 2021 and began playing the drums for the marching band in 2022. De La Cruz also enjoys attempting new instruments as he’s tried to play new instruments like the recorder. De La Cruz shares a strong connection to music, and he favors listening to Current Joys, Surf Curse and The Frights. “Music has always been super important to me, not just like listening, but playing it too,” De La Cruz said. “I love indie, alternative and rock. All that good stuff.” In addition to the Marching Knights and jazz band, De La Cruz is vice president of Keep Our School Beautiful (KOSB) club. “I enjoy being in KOSB club because my parents have raised me to recycle and it means a lot to me to set that same standard at my school,” he said. What brought De La Cruz to newspaper was his friends, but what kept him in the class was his love for videography and story writing. “I initially joined this class, because a friend invited me to meet the teacher. I always wanted to do hosting for some videos, but last year I realized my talent was in writing stories,” he said. “I honestly love it so much. I’ve been very interested in writing sports stories. I hope to go to UF and maybe pursue journalism as a degree.” With this being his second year and first year in an editorial position, he looks forward to many things in newspaper. “I’m most looking forward to leaving my mark in newspaper, specifically in how we run the sports section,” De La Cruz said. “I enjoy the work, but especially the people. Some of my closest friends are the people I met through newspaper.”

Ryan Rolle is a senior at Robinson and is the A&E editor for the Knight Writers. This is her third year on staff.  Rolle decided to join Knight Writers, as she always adored reading and writing and wanted to communicate her thoughts from pop culture to school issues, while also deepening her involvement with the school.   “I joined when I was a sophomore and I decided to join because I’ve always had a passion for reading and writing and I thought it would be fun to be able to voice my opinion to the school while getting involved in something academic,” Rolle said.   Outside of the school newspaper, you can likely find Rolle spending her free time on the water, rowing for the varsity team at the Tampa Bay rowing club.   “Two of my closest friends have been rowing since sixth grade and our team is small, so they were asking new girls to come out and try it. So, my sophomore year I decided to give it a try, and I loved and have been doing it ever since,” Rolle said.   Whenever she’s not rowing, Rolle greatly enjoys using her time making matcha and listening to various genres of music, with her tastes changing depending on the time of year.  “I listen to different music genres throughout the seasons but right now, since it’s fall, I’m listening to a lot of Smashing Pumpkins and Radiohead,” Rolle said.   This being her third year on the Knight Writers staff, Rolle has formed many unforgettable experiences but of all the memories, her favorite has to be when she attended the Florida Scholastic Press Association competition last year in Orlando.   “We got to stay near the SeaWorld for a weekend, and we just had so much fun entering competitions and hanging around the hotel,” Rolle said.  Part of the class of 2026, Rolle plans to attend college after high school either furthering her passion in journalism by majoring in biology or furthering her passion in journalism by majoring in creative writing. “My biggest dream ever would be to get into Dartmouth and major in biology or journalism/creative writing with a minor in Spanish, then go on to become an orthodontist,” Rolle said.  (Profile by Avani Madabhushanam)

Coleton Rone is a junior and a staff writer for the Knight Writers. This is his first year on staff. Rone is looking toward being one of the new hosts for the Knight Writers’ very own Knight Mic and is most excited for the environment and excitement that surrounds it. “I joined newspaper because I thought I would have a lot of fun doing the interviews [for Knight Mic],” Rone said. “I’m excited for the football games specifically…I think the interviews there are going to be very enjoyable because the environment at [football games] is an experience of its own.” Outside of journalism, Rone enjoys tapping into his musical side, he enjoys listening to music and playing his instruments. He plays bass guitar on his own, but academically, Rone plays double bass for Orchestra. Aside from music, Rone is a true fitness enthusiast at heart, as he enjoys testing his physical limits with weightlifting. He expresses this passion of his by lifting at least 4 times per week. When he isn’t becoming a rising musician and expressing his athletic abilities, Rone spends his free time with his many pets but primarily his cat named Duck while watching Amazing World of Gumball. When asked about his greatest inspiration, the top person that comes to his mind is his Dad. “…he’s a good person [with] good moral values, and he doesn’t do anything despicable or evil,” Rone said. After he leaves Robinson, Rone isn’t quite sure what he will do next. He plans on either going to a 4 year university to major in business, or going to a trade school to learn more about a career in mechanics. (Profile by Keirra McGoldrick)
