Voting is open for next year’s Sophomore and Junior Class Presidents. Before voting, meet the 2025-2026 candidates, and see who aligns with your interests.
First up is Sharan Penta (‘28), who plans to increase student involvement at Robinson. One such plan to accomplish this goal is to initiate a competition throughout the school.
“I’m thinking of a competitive fundraiser where whichever homeroom raises the most money wins the top prize,” Penta said.
Penta strives to recognize student’s health as well.
“I’m seeing a lot of people struggling with their workload, so I’m thinking of helping promote student well-being,” Penta said. He plans to help in “identifying what affects their [the students] well-being and then addressing it.”
Penta is a member of Robinson’s speech and debate team and is confident in his speaking skills and attributes.
The second candidate running for Sophomore Class President is Abhiram Ummedisetti (‘28.) He hopes to nurture community involvement and incorporate the ideas of the student body.
“I want to create student engagement with the community [and] create more service opportunities,” Ummedisetti said.
Ummedisetti plans to ensure that students’ comments and suggestions are included in decisions.
“I listen to any type of feedback. I also try to understand everybody’s point of view and make sure their ideas are included in the solution.”
Junior Class President candidate Lane Virgil (‘27) is “running so all voices are heard.” Virgil intends to make sure students can develop their passions at Robinson.
“I think a major part of high school is finding your passion and surrounding yourself with people who enjoy the same things,” Virgil said. “I promise to make all voices heard and make [sure] every passion has the resources it needs.”
Virgil also aims to help foster school spirit and ensure new students arrive at Robinson with support and assistance.
“I believe upcoming freshmen need to feel welcomed and supported,” Virgil said. “I plan to keep the mixed events and mentor-like projects going.”
Arianne Mercado (‘27), is also running for Junior Class President. She wants to expand school fun and ensure students’ culture can be displayed.
“I am trying to change a lot of things around here, like [having] more events to make the school years more fun,” Mercado said.
The representation of students’ culture through these events is another focus of Mercado’s. She hopes to hold “inclusive” events and hopes to equilibrate the imbalance between the traditional and IB programs.
“We need to keep them equal and share a lot of school spirit [with both IB and traditional.],” she said.
Vote on canvas under the announcement from Robinson Student Services before the ballot closes Wednesday, April 16 at 12:00 p.m. You can only vote for your grade.
