On my first day of class, I had the worst anxiety not knowing anyone my sophomore year and as the year ended I walked out of class as a Co-Editor-in-Chief alongside Ashlyn with many memories and friends I wouldn’t have expected to have that first day.
Joining sophomore year sounded like a nightmare as I wouldn’t know a soul in the class and while it remained true for a while with trips like FSPA districts and states and NSPA the last two years I was able to connect with the staff and learn so much.
It was one of the best decisions I made and while cliche it’s the truth. I was able to grow out of my very, very small shell and blossom into the writer and photographer I hope to continue to be in college.
While newspaper gave me the most massive headaches sometimes I wouldn’t trade the class for any other. Mrs. Webster brought many opportunities my way and I remain thankful for that as it inspired me to pursue Multimedia Journalism at FAU.
It’s difficult to know I’ll never experience another FSPA with yummy wing stop and friends again. I’m glad to have had the opportunity to do so. While saying goodbye is bittersweet, I know the class is left with a talented editorial board and the best advisors out there.
