The Western Conference American Division Track Meet was held Wednesday afternoon at Jefferson High School. The meet was a qualifier for the County Championships next Tuesday, with the top four participants in each event qualifying.

“We had moderate success. I’m very happy with how our veterans performed,” said Manuel Montero, the boys track coach. “Jack Rogers won both of his events as expected, the 800 meters and the 1600 meters. In county’s we expect him to win both events as well.”

Jahrvis Davenport (’15), qualified in the long jump and as part of the boy’s 4 by 100 meter relay team, but he was not completely satisfied with his performance.

“I was upset because I feel like I’m not hitting my mark as good as I was last year. It’s not like I lost focus, I just feel different,” said Davenport. “At conferences I did fairly well, but there’s a lot to improve on. At County’s I will come back bigger, faster, and stronger.”
