Thursday, December 4, at 7:05 a.m., NASA organized the launch of the unmanned space capsule Orion from Cape Canaveral. It was launched to test out a new design. They are planning to launch a manned spacecraft of this model in 2021. The capsule wasn’t able to be launched on Thursday because of many problems such as an unauthorized boat in the area and problems with the valves, so NASA rescheduled the launch for the next day, Friday, December 5 at the same time. It landed at 11:29 a.m. in the ocean.

The Aerospace classroom offered students at RHS an opportunity to watch the space capsule take off. The teacher Jeff Kaloostian had a projector in the room to watch the cameras around the launch and the cameras on Orion.

“NASA had a Livestream that started at 6 and they talked about it, and it went off today at 7:05 a.m.,” said Jackie Peate (’17). Many other aerospace students viewed it this morning.
