MyNejia Milsaps is a sophomore at Robinson and a Staff Writer for Knight Writers. This is her first year on staff. Milsaps was originally brought to journalism by her interest in yearbook but would eventually end up in newspaper. She hopes to mainly write sports stories but is also interested in pursuing other stories around the school. "I kinda want to do a little bit of everything, but mostly sports," she says. "I'm one of those people who likes to access all that I can." Milsaps has two sisters, two dogs and a cat. Both of her parents served in the Air Force and Army before retiring and joining the department of defense. With both of her parents currently working as intelligence analysts, Milsaps draws major inspiration from their work and service. "It's really fun to see what my parents do and really cool to learn what they do," she says. Milsaps passion for sports began as a little kid, and she hasn't restricted herself to just one sport. A common theme through her life is that she can never just do one thing, she is always looking for more. "I did cross country, soccer, flag football, a little bit of swimming and basketball," she said. While she has loved any sport she tried, basketball has always had a special place in her heart. "Basketball is my number one," Milsaps said. "When I was little, I watched Space Jam, and it was really inspiring." A true polymath, Milsaps also loves to create and learn music. She plays trumpet, piano and guitar. "I started trumpet in third grade, and I was in rock band in elementary school," she says "I did that for about three years, and then I started playing by myself." Beyond high school, Milsaps has several plans for her future. While she plans to go to Florida State, South Florida, or the University of Tampa. She plans to pursue a career as an FBI agent, a journalist, or a therapist for kids who have gone through, or are in, the adoption system. "I have always wanted to be an FBI Agent because they are cool and secretive in what they do and how they do their work. Another career I am really interested in is being a journalist, I think the main reason is because my mom talks so profoundly about her jobs and what she does. I'm also interested in being a therapist for kids being adopted or put through the adoption system because when I was adopted, I was in therapy for a couple years. It was a lot of emotions, and it really helped me out. If there is anything I can do to help someone whose going through a hard time, then I'm going to be the best person for them." Milsaps said.  

This is Senior Ashlyn Miller's third year on the Knight Writers staff and her second year in an editorial position, previously serving as the Sports Editor and now as a Co-Editor-in-Chief. Originally, Miller did not intend to take the class, describing her random placement as "luck." She was assigned to Newspaper in her sophomore year and has remained in it since. "I think I got into Newspaper by luck," Miller said. "It just happened, and I loved it. I really enjoy the creative freedoms that it gives me." Miller plays many roles within the Robinson community. She is not only a part of the Knight Writers, but is also involved in various clubs and sports, including ROTC, where she serves as an Executive Officer; Girl Up, where she is the President and Founder; Student 2 Student, where she is an Officer; KOSB (Keeping Our School Beautiful), where she is an Officer; the Swim team; and the Orchestra and Band. If that wasn't enough to illustrate how busy Miller keeps herself, she also finds time to pursue her own hobbies outside of Robinson, such as painting, other artistic activities, sports photography and sports in general. "I love fall because I love watching and keeping up with college football. I don't really care about the NFL, I just feel like college has so much more passion behind it," Miller said. "My family my whole life has bonded over Alabama football in particular, which nobody at school really gets. That just makes it feel more special to me and my family." As Co-Editor-in-Chief, Miller has many goals for the Knight Writers, which include not only accumulating awards but also helping all staffers learn and improve their journalistic skills. Last school year was a victory for the Knight Writers, as they earned a Sunshine Standout for their print publication as well as an All-Florida for both their online and print editions. Miller has high hopes, aiming to win a Pacemaker, the highest achievement a publication can achieve. With it being her senior year, Miller hopes to attend the University of Florida to pursue an undergraduate degree in nursing before attending Physician Assistant school. "I would like to work mainly in women's health. Part of what makes me love journalism so much is the idea of advocacy. I hope to be an advocate for women in their time of need now, and in the future," Miller said.  

Araya Stearns is a senior at Robinson and a senior staff writer for Knight Writers. This is her second year on staff. An essential part of Stearns is her love for sports. At Robinson, she plays both flag football and softball. She loves the flag team she's a part of, aiding her love of the sport overall. The same applies to softball, which Stearns has been involved in since her early years. "Softball, I've been playing since, like, the age of four, so meeting new people and having more friends due to softball is a really big thing for me," Stearns said. After her time at Robinson, Stearns plans to keep moving forward on the softball track, hoping to pursue the sport throughout college and strive for the pro-leagues. Wanting to stay active even after college, a career in physical therapy or training is in her sights. Besides sports, Stearns loves her share of country music. Artists like Kane Brown and Morgan Wallen are common in her everyday playlist. Like many right now, Stearns has been enjoying the new volume of "Stranger Things," eager for the new season to come out in her senior year. Dialing down on the intensity, her favorite movies are typically from Disney, considering that she's surrounded by younger siblings. She finds movies like "Luca" fun to watch by herself or with others. This year, Stearns wants to keep her focus on the sports section, mainly attending sports games and taking pictures for our galleries. She loves the atmosphere of any sports game, keeping her ambitious to improve her photography skills throughout her junior year. (Profile by Faith Rowland)
