This Saturday, in the chaotic midst of students taking their SATs, swimmers heading to Bobby Hicks and young kids playing little league football, the band was hard at work in the student parking lot. On Sep. 13, the Robinson band held their Rehearsathon at the school from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. It’s an opportunity for them to take the entire day to practice and raise some funds from the members’ families and friends.
Larisa Dalalau (‘26) explained what the annual tradition of the Rehearsathon does for the band.
“It’s an opportunity for us to just raise money and get all of us together,” Dalalau said.
The money raised by the family and friends of the band goes directly to the program itself, and gives them more resources for projects, transportation, pregame meals and fun activities throughout the year. Aside from the money being raised, this nine-hour practice is extremely important to finalizing the marching band’s show. Baritone Captain of the band, Sophia Wolfson (‘26), described how much the Rehearsathon can accomplish each year.
“We’re trying to put the entire show together from start to finish, making sure our marching and our music are good,” Wolfson said.
The knights were out in the sun and Florida heat for most of the morning, but they made sure to take breaks and head into the air-conditioning every once in a while. A raffle was held during their lunch break, and they spent the late afternoon inside doing a performance for family and friends to fundraise.
The band explained that even though this tradition can be long, hot and tiring, they always look forward to the annual rehearsathon.
“It’s a great way to spend time with his friends and fellow band members. I really look forward to just the people. [They] kind of keep us coming back,” Caden Veasley (‘26) said
