With the upcoming homecoming [HOCO] dance coming up, things can get busy with dress shopping, football games and finishing up quarter one. However, an important aspect of HOCO that is frequently forgotten is the spirit days leading up to the event. This year’s spirit days take place from Sept. 15-19.
Kicking off the week, Monday is frat boy /sorority girl. Bring your backwards caps, jerseys, and college T-shirts. It’s not a super complicated theme and could most likely be easily pulled out of your closet (or sibling’s closet, whichever gets you closer to the theme).
Tuesday is Culture Day, dress in something that represents where you are from/your heritage. If you are part of multiple cultures, maybe wear a mixture of clothing from those cultures. Another idea could be doing social cultures, such as the culture at Robinson. You could wear Robinson gear, IB hats or something along those lines.
Tuesday’s theme is Holi-day. Any holiday, Christmas, Halloween, Hanukkah, for example, but really, you’re only limited to your imagination. Personally, going around in a Halloween costume sounds pretty interesting to me. Especially if you went as a group costume.
Thursday is Jersey day. Wear a jersey that represents your favorite sports team. Whether it be a high school, college or professional level team, wear it to show your pride for your team!
Friday is King Tut and Cleopatra day, dress up as Egyptian royalty or a mummy. You could make a crown or wear gold jewelry to represent royalty, but get creative with this one! It’s the last one before HOCO.
Spirit days are a great way to be involved with the school without having to do too much. Plus, it’s always exciting to see everyone dress up before the big nights of the HOCO football game and dance. Go out and get involved!
