When you go shopping, regardless if that means online or in person, everyone has the same goal: to spend money on something that catches your eye. But the choice of shopping at the mall or online is an issue, since most tend to choose the wrong one. Shopping in-person has more benefits than drawbacks in comparison to shopping on the web.
For one thing, shopping online means guessing what size you are based on a company’s size chart and crossing your fingers that it is accurate. On the other hand, shopping in person guarantees that you are a size small in the blue jeans you wanted, and it allows you to come to the conclusion that the shade of pink in that sweatshirt you wanted actually clashes with your skin tone and you shouldn’t get it after all.
Getting out of the house to buy something facilitates social interactions. It can allow you to get to know your community better, for instance seeing the same employees at the make-up store you like going to. It can help you make friends with someone at the thrift store you like going to, since you all have a similar sense of style. Or something as simple as hanging out with friends at the mall that brings a little brightness to your day.
Some may argue that there is a better selection online rather than in-store, and that it is more time efficient to just get a product shipped. Sorry to break it to you, but these points aren’t necessarily true. Sometimes people go online to find a red Bluetooth speaker that is available at the Target five minutes from your house, but is currently out of stock online; or perhaps that you want a specific jean skirt from Pacsun to wear to the Tate McRay concert tonight, and there’s no way you can get something shipped in under seven hours.
Going to stores allows you to get products that you need when you need them and it is more cost efficient because you may need to pay shipping fees online, or the price may be higher online since the pink guava Summer Fridays cannot be found anywhere for some reason.
Next time you want to buy something, don’t take out your phone – pick up your car keys and go get it yourself.
