Last year’s the boys soccer team did not do as well as head coach Tom Dusold wanted them to. It was, after all, a rebuilding year after losing nine seniors. But he is optimisitic about this season
“I feel that we will be a much improved team this season,” said Dusold, who is entering his fifth year as head coach. “Many of the returning players don’t feel good about last season’s results and are committed to turning the program around.”
The team recently began conditioning for the season.
“So far, response to conditioning has been better than last year,” Dusold said. “We made an effort to make it more physically challenging and the guys who really want to be on the team have stepped up to the challenge.”
Dusold is looking for veteran players Jerson Camacho, Arshia Haj, Ryan Tahiri, Gabe Gonzalez and Tim Holder to step up and produce a better overall team.
“We will carry twenty-two players, twenty field players and two goalkeepers, on the roster,” Dusold said. “I won’t name starters until after tryouts and practice. The eleven young men who give us the best chance to win will start each week.”
Dusold is hopeful that with increased focus from veterans and strong pre-season conditioning his team will exceed expectations for this upcoming season.
