Baseball: Knights Combine For No-Hitter In 10-0 Win Over Blake

After three straight days of canceled games, the Robinson Knights finally opened up their regular season schedule on Friday afternoon at home against Blake.

The Robinson pitching staff was on point all afternoon, allowing no hits over five innings in a combined effort. Right-hander Patrick Kiszla (’15) got the start for the Knights, throwing two innings while striking out five before being relieved by left-hander Mitchel Chowning (’15). Chowning struck out the side in order in his 2014 debut. Ryan Schipfer (’15)  followed with another hitless inning, while picking up a strikeout, before Neil Ordorica (’16) set down the Yellowjackets in order in the fifth inning, including two strikeouts. The four pitchers combined for eleven strikeouts in their no-hit effort.

The Knights got out to an early lead, scoring seven runs in the first inning, keyed by some Blake errors and big hits, highlighted by T.J. Cole’s (’14) two-run double, Shawn Herron’s (’14) RBI double, and a RBI single by Jack White (’15).

The mercy rule came into effect in the bottom of the fifth when the Knights scored three runs without a hit to finish off the 10-0 win.

Robinson’s next game is Saturday morning at home against Leto. First pitch is set for ten o’clock.
