Coming into Friday night, Robinson was winless against rival Plant since 2004.

“We have to execute and not make mistakes,” said coach Shawn Taylor on what his team needed to do to end the losing streak. Plant just proved to be too much at Dad’s Stadium as they beat the Knights 46-18.

The Knights struck first, scoring on a 14-yard touchdown run by Anfernee Alston.

Robinson kept it close early, heading into the second quarter down just 12-6. Plant quarterback Rex Culpepper then threw three second-quarter touchdowns to give the Panthers a 33-6 lead into halftime.

Plant extended their lead to 46-6 in the third quarter before Robinson scored two touchdowns in the fourth to make it 46-18. The first fourth-quarter touchdown for Robinson came on a 1-yard touchdown by Aivory Foster. Foster rushed for 55 yards and a touchdown on his eighteenth birthday. The Knights then scored again on the last play of the game as Malik Tyson connected with Iyan Mitchell for a 14-yard touchdown to end the game on a better note.

Plant’s Rex Culpepper played a stronger game this week, throwing for 181 yards and 5 touchdowns. His counterpart, Malik Tyson, threw for 131 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions.

Robinson (0-2) next plays at Jefferson on Friday.
