The Kansas City Royals took a 2-1 lead in the World Series with their 3-2 win over the San Francisco Giants on Friday night. A raucous crowd at the Giants’ AT&T Park was not enough to hold back the Royals from winning their second straight in the series.

The Royals got five solid innings of two-run baseball out of their starting pitcher, Jeremy Guthrie. After he left the game two batters into the sixth inning, Kelvin Herrera, Brandon Finnegan, Wade Davis and Greg Holland pieced together the final four innings to finish off the win.

Kansas City got on the board in the first inning when Lorenzo Cain’s groundout drove in Alcides Escobar. They then tacked on two more runs in the sixth when Alex Gordon doubled in Escobar before coming around to score two batters later on Eric Hosmer’s RBI single.

Michael Morse’s double and Buster Posey’s groundout drove in San Francisco’s only two runs of the night in the sixth inning.

The two teams will square off again in Game 4 on Saturday night. Jason Vargas will get the start on the mound for the Royals against San Francisco’s Ryan Vogelsong. First pitch is set for 8:07 on FOX.
