“To play a team like that on this stage is an opportunity and an experience. It showcases where we need to keep pushing to be,” said Robinson coach Christen Garcia.

After dropping the first two sets, the Lady Knights jumped out to a 9-3 lead in the third set before Bishop Kenny came roaring back to take the set 25-15. Emily Draper (’17) totaled 16 digs in the match while Catia Sleet (’16), McKenna Tyson (’17) and Erin McGuire (’15) picked up four kills.

Despite dropping their second straight state semifinal match, the Lady Knights volleyball program has a lot to build on heading into the 2015 season.

“The best part is knowing that we will have practically all of these players back next year, being even better than they are now and bringing greater experience. It’s a comforting feeling for sure,” said Garcia.

Though it may be over for this year, the team injected a new sense of pride into their school. However, no one may be as proud as their coach.

“I can’t say enough about our players and the effort they gave,” said Garcia. “I’m so proud of our girls.”
