Preview: East Bay at Robinson
October 1, 2015
Coming off of a 7-0 overtime victory over King last week, the Knights (3-2) are looking to extend their winning streak to three this Friday night against East Bay (2-3). A win would improve Robinson’s record to two games over .500, a mark they haven’t reached since 2012.
REWIND: The Knights and Indians last met in 1996, when Robinson came away with a 28-15 victory. Robinson leads the all-time series 10-4.
PLAYERS TO WATCH (East Bay):
Gaej Walker (’16)– Walker leads the East Bay rushing attack with 283 yards and four touchdowns on 60 carries in 2015. Earlier in the season, the 6-foot running back caught Riverview off guard with a 70-yard touchdown pass on the first play of the game, adding a measure of versatility to his game. On the defensive side of the ball, he has totaled five tackles, an interception and four passes defensed. He currently has college offers from Bethune-Cookman, Eastern Kentucky, Georgia Southern, Middle Tennessee State and North Dakota State.
Brennan Taylor (’16)– In five games this season, Taylor has 45 tackles (25 solo), six tackles for loss and two and a half sacks. He’s averaging nine tackles a game, proving himself to be the leader of the Indians’ defense, which has allowed over 20 points just twice this season.
PLAYERS TO WATCH (Robinson):
Anthony Krouse Jr. (’17)– With some starters out due to injury, Krouse has stepped up in recent weeks. Offensive coordinator Craig Everhart will continue to use him in a role that gives him time at fullback and tight end. Defensively, he has 24 tackles (six solo) and two fumble recoveries.
Jarvis Ramsey (’18) – Ramsey filled in last week against King and finished with 33 yards on nine carries, including the game-winning three-yard touchdown run in overtime. With leading rusher Anfernee Alston (’17) sidelined, he will share carries with David Stevens (’16) this week.
Kickoff for Friday night’s non-district game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Jack Peters Field on the campus of Robinson High School (6311 S. Lois Avenue, Tampa, FL 33616).
