Early on in Friday night’s matchup between Robinson and East Bay, it looked like Jack Peters Field was set to play host to another defensive struggle. After being tied at 7 heading into the locker room, the Indians scored 17 unanswered points on their way to a 24-7 victory.

“It’s all focus,” said Robinson head coach Shawn Taylor. “This team has tons of potential, but not when we make mistakes like that.”

As sloppy as the night was, the Knights once led 7-0. Midway through the second quarter, Malik Tyson (’16) hit Iyan Mitchell (’16) for a 10-yard touchdown. Tyson finished the night 17 of 30 for 229 yards, a touchdown and an interception.

Shortly after the Robinson touchdown, East Bay knotted the score at 7. Coming out of halftime, a 49-yard touchdown run by Davonte Williams (’18) gave the Indians their first lead.

“We’ve got to do a better job as coaches,” said Taylor. “That’s just how it is.”

Offensively, turnovers and mistakes cost the Knights all night, while the defense allowed 317 rushing yards.

Robinson (3-3) travels to Alonso (3-3) next week.
