In what was set to be one of the biggest home games for Robinson (4-4) since 2012, Jesuit (8-0) spoiled the party, rolling over the Knights on their way to a 44-13 victory. With the win, the Tigers clinched the district.

“We are still making too many mistakes,” said Robinson head coach Shawn Taylor. “We cannot beat ourselves and our opponent.”

Things started well for the Robinson defense, who forced an interception and a fumble on back-to-back drives, but the offense couldn’t convert the turnovers into points. Jesuit running back Malik Davis (’17) then took over, finishing the night with 194 rushing yards and five touchdowns, his season-high.

The Knights cut into Jesuit’s lead in the second quarter with a six-yard touchdown pass from Malik Tyson (’16) to Iyan Mitchell (’16). On the ensuing kickoff, Rodney Higdon (’17) took the ball all the way back to the Robinson 45-yard line. Jesuit then extended their lead to 21-7 and never looked back.

Christian Pete (’16) stood out on defense for the Knights, racking up 14 tackles. Anthony Krouse Jr. (’17) collected two sacks, one of which was a forced fumble that led to the first Robinson touchdown.

The Knights failed to get any real momentum going offensively. Turnovers proved to be a problem once again, with two fumbles halting any offensive rythym for the Knights.

Mitchell caught a second touchdown late in the game from Najee Fitzgerald (’17), who was in for an injured Tyson.

With two games left on the schedule, Robinson needs to win out in order to clinch a spot in the playoffs.

“Once we eliminate our mistakes, we will be a tough team to beat,” said Taylor.

The Knights hit the road next week to take on Spoto (2-6) before hosting Jefferson (1-6) in the season finale on October 30.
