Boys Basketball

Coming off of Thanksgiving Break, the Knights hosted Jesuit in their first district matchup of the season. Robinson got a fast start and led by three at halftime, but the Tigers fought back with a strong second half to hand the Knights a 65-53 loss.

Iyan Mitchell (’16) led Robinson with 21 points, shooting 63% from three-point range.

The Knights hung with Jesuit all night but couldn’t manage to take advantage of some big opportunities.

“We need to capitalize on our steals,” Mitchell said. “When we get steals, we need to score every time. In the first quarter, we didn’t score the last three minutes, which was most of why we lost.”

The Knights (2-2) will head north tonight, looking to get back on track against Jefferson (3-4). Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m.

Girls Basketball

Robinson (4-3) will take on Jefferson (2-6) tonight at 8:00 p.m.

Boys Soccer

The Knights had a rough week on the field, starting off the week on Tuesday with an 8-0 loss to Steinbrenner. They were looking to rebound on Thursday night, but instead dropped a 2-1 decision to Middleton.

“We need to put this week’s game behind us and focus on cleaning up our mistakes and getting on the scoreboard first,” said team captain Charlie Draper (’17).

Robinson (4-4) will try to end their two-game losing streak on Tuesday against Spoto (0-6).

Girls Soccer

The Lady Knights put up mixed results this week, starting the week with a 4-0 loss to Steinbrenner before an 8-0 mercy rule win over Middleton.

April Ryckman (’17), Sarah Jennewein (’17) and Tatum Brookes (’16) each found the back of the net twice, while Jocelyn Barrera (’16) and Gabriella Egan (’19) added goals of their own.

“I think [the team] is not where it was last year, but I think there’s definitely a huge drive to get back to where we were,” Ryckman said. “It’s not impossible if we all have that drive to push further and become better than we were last year.”

Robinson (5-4) will next take the field on Tuesday against Spoto.

Competitive Cheer

On Thursday, Robinson placed third in their first competition of the season, only finishing behind Sickles and Freedom.

“We have a lot of new people, so I was worried that they might freak out performing for the first time, but everyone ended up doing what they were supposed to. I’m really proud of them all,” said team captain Keely Clanton (’16). “It’s a good sign to see so that we can improve and be ready for states.”

The next competition is Tuesday night at Armwood.
