After a 47-0 victory against King last Friday, the Knights (1-4) searched for a second season win Friday, against the East Bay Indians but fell short in a tight match, 16-12.

“We’re getting better every week, we’re just really young. It’s a process. Improvement may not happen as much as we like. We have to focus on all eleven guys executing every play,” head coach Shawn Taylor said. “If it’s 10 out of 11, you miss the play. That’s how we lost the game tonight.”

The game started off with consecutive runs for the Indians, resulting in an early touchdown. A sack on quarterback Kobe Copple (’19) brought Robinson into the second quarter, where two runs for Anfernee Alston (’17) for a combined total of 29 yards sparked offensive hope. Roseman missed a 40-yard field goal for William Roseman (’18) to end that the drive, then ending the half on a higher note with a 38-yard field goal.

Robinson’s offense came back strong in the second half with a 27-yard pass from Copple to Devon Hunter (’18) followed by a 35-yard field goal from Roseman. A fumble on the kickoff for East Bay then positioned Robinson well for their first touchdown of the night.

With the Knights taking over the lead 12-7, the Indians almost immediately took back control, running the ball 30 yards into the end zone to take the lead back. A field goal for the Indians ended the game.

“We started the season with about seven of the 11 guys knowing what they’re supposed to do and now we’re at 10 out of 11 guys knowing what they’re supposed to do,” Taylor said. “And once we can get that last person, we’ll be fine against every team we play.”

The Knights look for their second win against the Alonso Ravens next Friday, Oct. 7, in a non-conference matchup at Jack Peters Stadium (6311 S. Lois Ave, 33616).
