Sophomores and juniors stand out in 3-7 Knights season
Despite the losing record, many young players saw individual success.

Football is a team sport, but that does not mean that individuals can not be recognized despite lack of production as a whole team.
In what was Head Coach Craig Everhart’s second season at the helm of the Knights, the team’s record fell compared to the prior season’s, with last year’s record being 5-5 compared to the 3-7 record they saw in the 2019 season. Three out of these losses came within one possession, most notably a seven-point loss to the Chamberlain Chiefs, who ended their season 6-4 and made their way to the playoffs.
Four players on the Knights made the Hillsborough District All-FACA 1st team, with kicker Steven Verdisco and Paul Miller being the two seniors to make the list and linebacker Carl Augustin and defensive back Leviticus Mcaffee making the cut as juniors.
Levi Mcaffee (’21) was ranked 12 on the state interceptions list, with eight interceptions this season. Mcaffee had four total touchdowns on the season, with three being receiving touchdowns.
Carl Augustin (’21) had three sacks on the season as well as two forced fumbles and 56 total tackles.
Sophomore quarterback Rickeem Parks threw ten touchdowns and 1,181 yards, as well as rushed for 497 yards and five touchdowns. Parks won the position in the first two weeks of the season and lead the team in both passing and rushing.
Another young player who came in and performed in the latter half of the season was Receiver Isaiah Calabaza (’22), who caught five passes for 85 yards and a touchdown.
With 18 seniors leaving the team due to graduation, the team will look to these players and other young up-and-coming players to lead them to success next season.
