In the aftermath of Hurricane Milton, Robinson and all of Hillsborough County has been grappling with the effects of the storm, leading to a week-long suspension of classes and sports activities. With the rescheduling of games and practices, teams are facing unique challenges as they prepare to return to competition.
Golf, swim and cross country had their matches and meets cancelled without an option to reschedule. Cross country is dealing with the courses being flooded out or covered with tree debris. Golf’s home course is closed and they have to play and practice at a different course.
The football team, having had their games pushed back, is working to regain momentum. Coach Clay expresses concern about the lack of practice.
“We need to focus on getting the players back into game shape. But overall, I feel good about our team being able to play as good as we did before the storm,” Clay said.
Meanwhile, the volleyball team is also feeling the impact. Alex Clay, a standout player, shared her thoughts on the situation.
“It’s definitely tough to jump back into games without practicing for almost two weeks,” Alex Clay said. “I’m excited to play, but we need to make sure we find our rhythm again.”
Volleyball is currently in playoff play. Football’s missed game was moved to Thursday Nov. 7 and it’s home against King.
