Mercedes is a senior at Robinson and a first-year staff writer for Knight Writers. This is her first year on staff.
Since it is her senior year, Pepple has decided to try give journalism try. While Pepple also loves to spend her free time reading fiction, listening to music, watching anime, and creating art.
“Creating still life’s, makes me happy, I like capturing people in the moment,” Pepple said.
Still life’s is one of Pepple’s favorite art projects, finding images online changing them into greyscale.
” I’ve taken art every year, so my senior year I decided to take AP art”.
So, she can fully capture the image with a pencil and paper. Another elective that Pepple is heavily involved in is the culinary program. She spends many hours before and after school helping in the Robinson Culinary kitchen, preparing for many of the events, such as honor roll breakfast and PTSA dinner etc. She even had the opportunity to dress in black and white and become a mixologist for mocktail events.
“It’s fun experimenting and coming up with new drinks,” Pepple said.
Pepple, as an army brat, MacDill is her first Air Force Base but her ninth military base. Having lived in Kentucky, South Carolina, Georgia, Texas, Washington State, and Virginia, Pepple has only recently moved to Tampa. Even with how often Pepple moves, she has a great academic record she has made Principles Honor roll. After high school, Pepple hopes to continue her education at the Savanah College of Art and Design, pursuing the study of animation.
“I love taking a picture that looks good, then adding some special touches to make it better,” said Pepple.
Pepple realized her love for art in middle school. Giving her the freedom to express herself in her own way.
” I was creating art all your life, but I started taking art more seriously in sixth grade in art class,” Pepple said.
Pursuing her passion in the arts, Pepple has aspirations to go to the Svannah College or Art and Design.
“SCAD is definitely the dream, I love the community and the city it’s in,” Pepple said. “I just want to be in the art world, I can’t imagine myself spending my life any other way.
