As winter approaches, new sports fall in. This year the school’s cheer team will be cheering for Robinson’s basketball team. Tryouts for the team will be held on Nov. 14 with no prior experience required and the first basketball game will be held on Nov. 17.

Basketball cheer is coached by Rae Faison and Brianna Godfrey alongside captains Jaydn Grayes (‘23) and Alayna Hadley (‘25). The team will be combining new chants with previous ones, tumbling, jumps, and a few stunts. Practices will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

A large part of the preparation for this cheer season was done with the help of the varsity football cheerleaders.  Most notably the seniors worked hand-in-hand with newcomers trying to make this season memorable for everyone who is going to be a part of it.

“The captains of football cheer helped make the season so memorable…” Grayes said. “I can’t wait to do the same for our basketball cheer team.”

Fellow co-captain Hadley also has high hopes for this season. Above all, she is looking forward to collaborating with all new and returning teammates as well as using her newfound captaincy to encourage others.

“I am looking forward to getting to lead the team and learn new skills with everyone,” Hadley said. “…as well as make people that are new to the sport, fall in love with it like I did.”

Even if you’re not interested in joining cheer, make sure to come out and support our fellow boys and girls Knights at the first game of the season.
